I’ve never heard anyone comment about the weirdness of operating a clutch with your hand.

The “I’d kill myself on one of those” line on the other hand, is something I hear from anyone who does not ride, not just car enthusiasts. Glad they translated it for everyone...”I’m too chicken shit to ride a motorcycle.”

I’ve never been into “just cars” I’m a motor vehicle enthusiast, I love vehicles of all kinds, although I’ve had to nix helicopters from that list recently. If you like cars how can you not like motos, boats, wave runners, snow mobiles, side by sides.....

I hear this all the time from people who do ride in regards to old motorcycles. They see little skinny tires, finicky engines, dim light, and century old designs and feel the willies in their jimmies. There’s a pretty popular article about it here on Oppo. It doesn’t mean you’re a pussy, just that you’re a little more risk averse than someone else might be.

“Id kill myself on one of those things”

I say this all the time. Because I am very, VERY scared of 1000cc bikes.

Funny guy.

Only one thing, there’s more than the feet to feel a clutch engaging in a car, like one’s ass-sense for example.

Bikes are cool.

Noone. I won’t lie that my mom’s 49cc honda scooter kinda scared me off of bikes lol. and I’ve driven one of those nascar experience cars without giving a shit.

He’s a bit ignorant about hand controls vs foot controls. Sure your feet aren’t as precise, but the pedals give you longer travel. This means you get as much precision as you need, as well as freeing up your hands for other stuff. And what about the fact that, if you accidentally accelerate too hard on a bike, it’s very possible you’ll yank the throttle down and make things worse for yourself?

While I wrote that paragraph I heard a motorbike nearby revving hard to downshift a few times. I live in a built up area, why would he do that on a Saturday mornign? My question for motorcyclists is this: why are you obsessed with making so much noise, and travelling so much faster than everybody else, all the goddam time?

So let me get this straight... You are going to tell the motorcyclist who also has a BRZ (refering to the OP of the video) that HE is the ignorant one....whilst you only have one of them?

The noise? Meh. Same reason car guys rev.

The speed? This I have an answer for. Because unlike you, I dont have a cage to protect my ass. So i travel faster then most so I dont get rear ended. In a car, thats a fender bender. Getting rear ended on a bike? Bike goes down and i get dragged under the car and die. Im MUCH more willing to piss someone off then to risk the soccer mom running my ass down. Literally.

Well I still think I have valid points. I don’t think hand controls are the be-all and end-all.

Yes. But louder. And more frequent. A lot of them tend to just rev it periodically while they sit at the lights.

Increasing your speed to avoid one sort of risk opens up a whole bunch of others. Statistically, it seems most crashes are caused not by speed but by traffic moving at varying speeds. Couple that with lane splitting and poor visibility of bikes, I’d argue that going faster than everyone else isn’t justifiable.

To clarify that last one. Im not advocating weaving in and out at double the speed of everyone else. Thats just dumb. Im saying I go 5-10mph faster then everyone else, to help reduce that risk.
